Southeast Asian Art: An Online Scholarly Catalogue is a web publication on LACMA’s collection of Buddha sculptures. The publication is a fully illustrated art catalogue with 12 object focused essays. Each essay includes extensive photography of the object, 360-degree views, ability to compare images side-by-side, downloadable high-resolution images, related videos, maps, provenance, exhibition and publication histories. The publication also includes a chronology, footnotes, glossary, and bibliography. Other web features include a custom search with filters, a citation tool, and social media integration. This was part of the Getty’s Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative, seeking to generate a collective momentum towards examining and producing digital artifacts within museum publishing.
